Water Babies Partners With RLSS For 8th Consecutive Year

Water Babies, the world’s largest baby swim school, will once again support its long-standing partner, the Royal Life Saving Society UK (RLSS UK), during Drowning Prevention Week, 17th-24th June. To show its support, Water Babies will teach up to 47,000 children between the ages of 0-5 years crucial, and lifesaving, water safety skills throughout the week.

Drowning Prevention Week is one of the largest summer water safety campaigns across the UK and is designed to reduce accidental drownings and raise awareness of the importance of water safety. According to RLSS UK, around 312 UK and Irish citizens lose their lives each year due to accidental drowning, with 47% of deaths occurring between May and August.

This year Drowning Prevention Week’s focus will be on raising awareness of the water safety code and signposting so parents, carers and their little ones can experience maximum enjoyment with maximum safety during summer days by the water. Water Babies supports Drowning Prevention Week’s goals whilst also highlighting the benefits of baby swimming to ensure little ones can establish a passion for, and critical awareness of, the water, especially by the sea.

As a long-standing partner to the RLSS UK, Water Babies will deliver lessons to parents, carers, and their little ones throughout Drowning Prevention Week to help improve water safety skills and knowledge. Through its brand-new immersive curriculum, ‘Oceans of Imagination’, Water Babies will take customers on a journey to ‘Lighthouse Lagoon’, the water safety island, equipping them with essential skills to enjoy water responsibly with their Swimvincibles character Saffi, the Water Safety Officer.

Hannah Smith, Director of Aquatics at Water Babies said: “Learning to swim is quite literally lifesaving and I cannot stress enough how important it is to teach your little one to do so. We are delighted to be working closely once again with our partner, the RLSS UK, on its Drowning Prevention Week campaign both in and out of lessons, to continue raising awareness for water safety – particularly ahead of the summer holidays.”
